Here is what we look for in a proposal

  • Storyline that is positive, timely and globally appealing to a broad readership.
  • Coverage of any aspect of a cultural, scientific or historical nature that showcases cross-cultural connections within and beyond the Arab and Muslim world. We cover arts, archeology, history, profiles, innovations, food, nature and more.
  • What will the story reveal that until now has been unknown or underappreciated?
  • We like human-interest stories and accept various formats such as features, Q&As, first-person narratives, photo essays and even recipes. So, yes, you could be writing about a rare tiger species in Malaysia, architecture in Nigeria or an exhibition in Germany. We cover stories globally.
  • Strong background research and sources are required. Features must have a clear lede and a nut graf.
  • Accuracy and fairness following professional journalistic standards.
